if you do it locks up and you have to reset the entire unit (Loosing all the golf courses you had saved to the unit). It will save you money and time. The Caddie II goes through batteries very quickly and you cannot use rechargeable batteries. This thing hates vibration as with any electronic device.
This is not good when you have a tournament to go to and POOF the unit locks up. My unit no longer works. Many of the courses are not covered. I think this was a quick easy way for company to make money. Now for the kicker. I got about 1 year of use out of this.
After buying this device you have to pay a membership which entitles you to a specific # fo courses- Many of which are not available. the device has a small cheap clip on the back whch is not very reliable at holding the device on your golf bag or belt (mine broke). Be ready to buy tons of batteries. Buy a bertter branded product. I bought this back in 2008. When you call the company they are not much help (felt like they just gave me the blow off).
Needless to say the unit (without the clip) is subkect to a lot of vibration if you ride with it in the cup holder in the cart.
I downloaded 101 courses, all that I could think of that I might play. Many friends have the Sky Caddie and I am still very glad I purchased this device. I bought this for $175 and paid $30 for the annual membership. Pros:-Cost-Ease of use-8 Custom points per hole (lay up, carry distances, etc).-No need to pay membership every year-Very responsive customer service-40 courses stored on device.-Can share courses with othersCons: -No rechargeable batteries (make sure you have spare batteries in your bag at all times)-Slow upload/downloads of coursesOverall, I am very happy with this device.
One of the better GPS units for golf that is not hyped up with graphics. This system provides accurate shot making data.
This gives me just what I need. You can spend a whole lot more on other devices that do everything except hit your ball but why. Great deal for the money. I purchased this item and wont play golf without it now. If you spend a lot of time looking for yardage markers or guessing, this is the product for you. Accurate yardage to the front center and rear of the green.
They are the worst in the industry. No exceptions. Called cust serv and was told that there is no return or repair policy. Buyer beware. I purchased an iGolf product that failed in the first year. I replaced it at my expense and the 2nd one failed as well. I'm now stuck with over $450 worth of useless product.
